Mermaids and Dinosaurs
Led us to the caves that kept us safe
From the break of the surf
And the pull of the world.
Sometimes we stood at the shore
To see how brave we were.
Dab our toes in the water
Look at the horizon
And lose ourselves in dreams
Of endless oceans
Meeting endless skies
With only our hearts connecting them
Lest the world fell apart.
Tea-time with water spirits
Hide-and-seek with nymphs
We lost ourselves to beauty.
The clouds became our chariots
Flame at our heals
And the wind at our sides.
We became untameable, unmoveable.
We lived with Hope.
We became dreams.
